Acupuncture
Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners believe the human body has more than 2,000 acupuncture points connected by pathways or meridians. These pathways create an energy flow (Qi, pronounced "chee") through the body that is responsible for overall health. Disruption of the energy flow can cause disease. By applying acupuncture to certain points, it is thought to improve the flow of Qi, thereby improving health.
Studies have shown that acupuncture is effective for a variety of conditions.
Vestibular Therapy
Vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) is a specialized form of therapy intended to alleviate symptoms caused by vestibular disorders such as BPPV, Meniere's, vestibular migraine, age-related dizziness, neuritis, and central disorders. It is an exercise-based program primarily designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, visual disturbance, and/or imbalance and falls. This treatment is performed by a certified vestibular therapist.
Concussion Therapy
Concussion is a complex pathophysiological process affecting the brain, induced by traumatic biomechanical forces.
Put simply, a concussion changes the way our brain functions - causes it to work less optimally. It may be caused either by a direct blow to the head, face, neck or elsewhere on the body with an “impulsive” force transmitted to the head. A Concussion may or may not involve loss of consciousness (loss of consciousness is not a diagnostic requirement). In fact, less than 20% of concussions result in a loss of consciousness.
TMJ
Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are a group of more than 30 conditions that cause pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and muscles that control jaw movement. “TMDs” refers to the disorders, and “TMJ” refers only to the temporomandibular joint itself. People have two TMJs; one on each side of the jaw. You can feel them by placing your fingers in front of your ears and opening your mouth.
There are three main classes of TMDs:
Disorders of the joints, including disc disorders.
Disorders of the muscles used for chewing (masticatory muscles).
Headaches associated with a TMD.
